Former Sabah state assembly speaker Juhar Mahiruddin was today sworn in as the 10th Sabah governor.

Juhar, 57, who succeeded Ahmadshah Abdullah whose two-term ended yesterday, took his oath in front of Chief judge of Sabah and Sarawak Richard Malanjum at Istana Negeri in Kota Kinabalu today.

Born on Nov 5, 1953, in Kampung Tambisan, Sandakan, Juhar who holds a bachelor's degree in law from the Wolverhampton Polytechnic in England, had served as a first-class magistrate from 1981 to 1982.

Juhar was appointed Sabah state assembly speaker in 2002 and held the position until his recent appointment as the governor.
