The floods in Pahang have receded, enabling all the 95 evacuees to return to their homes in Kampung Sungai Karang Darat, Kuantan.

They had been evacuated overnight to the relief centre at SK Sungai Karang Darat.

A spokesperson of the Pahang police operations room said the relief centre had been closed.

He also said that a stretch of the Gebeng-Kuantan Road at Km18 remained flooded and was passable only to heavy vehicles.

Meanwhile, in neighbouring state Terengganu, floods forced the evacuation of 63 people from Kampung Teladas in the Kemaman district last night.

However, much of the floodwaters receded by early today and as at 9am only 10 people remained at the relief centre at the village community hall, said the district social welfare officer Ghazali Awang.

He also said that a bridge linking the villages of Teladas and Air Putih was made impassable by rising floodwaters for some time yesterday.

The bridge is now passable.
