Gobala gives Anwar an ultimatum

Gerard Samuel Vijayan: N Gobalakrishnan should tell the truth. This temple was illegally extended into a ‘mega-structure' under the auspices of the MIC. Indrani Samy Vellu is the patron of the temple committee. There was no development order approved for the extensions and no proper plans submitted to the MBPJ for them to consider planning permission.

The structure itself is unsafe because of soil conditions and its construction is on top of a slope where there are issues of slope stability and safety. The state government was willing to lift the stop-work order on condition that the temple demolish the unsafe structures and limit the size of the building itself, but this was rejected by the temple.

Is Gobala willing to take the risk if the structure collapses like Highland Towers and kills not only the worshippers but also the residents living on Bukit Gasing including the nearby condominium? This has got nothing to do with religion or race, but a matter of public safety.

Well, just as water finds its own level, these carpetbaggers are now displaying what they were always capable of doing ... bite the hand that feeds them, divide communities, use religion for political gain and indulge in other dark practices which BN is famous for.

PKR has to quickly and clearly differentiate itself by word and deed. You have some gems like Puan Faekah Hussin and there are many others quietly doing yeoman service. Build on your strengths, catalogue your achievements and continue doing what is right and not what is merely politically correct.

Meanwhile, do not get distracted by self-serving opportunists who will continue to emerge as the day of reckoning approaches.

Pants on Fire: Well, even if he is right, why bring it out only now, after losing in the party elections? Gobala is using religion for political reasons.

Focus: If Gobala is a true blue politician caring and fighting for the cause of the Indians, he would have exposed all these so-called 'dirty but hidden' things about Anwar long time ago. Now that he does not have any position in PKR, he shouts the loudest.

Chandran Sukumaran: If Gobala knew Anwar is anti-Hindu a long time ago, why did he then support him all this while?


Invitations sent out for Khusrin's swearing-in

Ghkok: Let the will of the people be heard. Call an emergency session of the Selangor State Assembly, and pass a motion of no confidence on Mohd Khusrin Munawi, and pass a motion to forbid anyone from attending his ‘swearing in' - including the menteri besar. Pass a motion to select another state secretary and swear in the new one at one go. The rights of the people of Selangor must prevail.

Paddington Bear: I can't help but think that this is all part of some grand plan to install a BN-friendly state secretary so that he can 'assist' in making the whole Sunshine Fleet debacle go away.

Sentinel: The people of Selangor elected the state government and it is therefore the state government which should choose the state secretary as it will only then be the people's choice. We the people chose the government, and we the people should decide who administers the state.


Struggle to stem 'brain drain' as talent departs

AyerTawar: Isn't it a joke to hope that the Talent Corporation could bring back overseas Malaysians? Have you tried to catch the fish flowing out from a broken aquarium? For every one that you catch, dozens more drift away from inside.

The government should repair the broken aquarium first. Make it beautiful and attractive with food for all. The fish in the aquarium will stay and those outside will be attracted back in again. They will swim back on their own.

DOC: The Malaysian workforce is truly in a dilemma. The highly educated and skilled Malaysians are leaving Malaysia for greener pastures, thus the brain drain. Even PM Najib Razak knows the cause for this brain drain - deteriorating economy, political uncertainty, racist policies, poor education prospects, affirmative action, etc.

Unfortunately our PM is unable to resolve these issues that are driving Malaysians to migrate. Any sensible Malaysian can tell you that the PM's Talent Corp idea to lure back Malaysians by painting a rosy picture of Malaysia is not going to cut it.

Not only do we have brain drain to combat; our local professional work force is also lethargic, has no drive and is ineffective. Ask any employer and the biggest complaint is there are a huge number of unemployable graduates in Malaysia.

Anonymous: The issue of brain drain will be there forever as long as Umno is in power. Ultras like Perkasa and Malay NGOs won't help in reversing the trend of the brain drain but will make the problem even more complex. The issue can be easily solved by practising meritocracy.
