An unhappy new fear for Sarawak's old guard

Anonymous: "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's and unto God the things that are God's."

This is the perfect statement on ownership of property, and in the modern world, dictators and bullies should be smacked down for their greed and vulgar show of power.

The people of Sarawak and Sabah, I believe, are waking up, and they will courageously pursue their goal to get back the land that belongs to them.

Let man be fair and just: do not steal land that belongs to those people. They, like we, have the right to live and earn their livelihood. Let us give them their land.

Ghkok: Despite the overwhelming and oppressive force of the state government, the tycoons and the weapons at their disposal, ie, the gangsters and other apparatus, fortunately the judiciary appears to be independent. It seems to be the last refuge for the oppressed people of the state. Certainly change must come as soon as possible before even the judiciary succumb to the tyrants.

Secondly, despite the usual propaganda about ‘Sarawak for Sarawakians', it is interesting to see that out of desperation, the state government is parading Rais Yatim, Muhyiddin Yassin and Najib Razak in the interiors of the state.

So what is it? Are the ‘peninsular' politicians trying to save the state from the clutches of the Sarawak tyrants, or is Sarawak supposed to save itself from the clutches of the Peninsula? The BN seems to be very confused.

Keen Observer From Brunei: Yes, they're really ‘carpet bombing' Limbang and Lawas. YB after YB - all bearing sweet words. Guess what I hear on the ground though. Only when BN came so close to losing their shirt in Limbang in the last round did they bother to come with goodies.

I hope the good doctor in Limbang and the fearless lawyer from Lawas will hunker down and come out fighting, and may they rout the unholy forces of corruption and win.

Cocomomo: Hopefully Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian can lead Pakatan to an upset victory over BN. Sarawak Pakatan must remain united and not let the negative events in Pakatan in the Peninsula affect them. Maybe the Peninsular Pakatan leaders should stay away from campaigning in Sarawak and let the local leaders lead Pakatan to a decisive victory.

DOC: All dictatorial states eventually fall. The question is when and how much damage it exerts on the people and its repercussions before its demise.


The sad parody of Gobalakrishnan

Gandhi: N Surendran is a human rights lawyer, but does he have the acumen of a politician? N Gobalakrishnan has been in politics and can discern the games played by the PKR leadership. Surendran is a political neophyte and the PKR leadership can manipulate him as he is obliged to Anwar Ibrahim because he was appointed.

Be fair to Gobala as he has worked for PKR more than Surendran or Dr Xavier Jeyakumar. One must wonder why so many are quitting PKR. There must be some favouritism and petty politics being played by the leadership.

Gobala may not have tertiary qualifications, but he certainly has a lot of grey matter. Let's look for persons who have the courage to raise issues.

Louisg: Anwar always plays his game. Anwar is no gentleman, as I have said many time - he is a man with many faces/ideologies. When he was with Abim, he was an Islamic fundamentalist. Then when he joined Umno, he became a Malay supremacist. Now in Pakatan Rakyat, he pretends to be a liberal democrat.

N Surendran, if you recall, was one of the two candidates Hindraf nominated for Bukit Selambau but whom Anwar flatly refused. I hope Surendran remembers that.

It appears that Indians in Pakatan are getting disillusioned. Likewise, Anwar is also disillusioned with the Indians in Pakatan for not being able to garner Indian support and votes.

As we all know, in the 2008 general elections, Hindraf played a key role in getting the Indian votes. The slogan for the 12th general elections was Makkal Sakthi, which was coined by Hindraf. Yet, the leaders in Pakatan refuse to acknowledge it.

Ketuanan Rakyat: It is unfortunate that Indians have many people like N Nallakaruppan and Gobala who want positions for themselves first before anything else. Nalla's game was up much earlier. Gobala sacrificed early on, and Anwar did accommodate him in PKR all this while. Just because he was not appointed vice-president, he bad mouths Anwar and the PKR leadership.

Indian Malaysians need unselfish leaders to succeed in this country. Look at the number of political parties claiming to represent Indians in Malaysia - MIC, PPP, HRP, Nalla's party MIUP, and many more.

Umnoputras are very happy seeing Indians destroying Indians. Ultimately, the ultra-racist Umnoputras are the winners. Indian Malaysians will remain where they are just like now after 53 years of rule under BN/MIC if they are not prepared to look outside the box. It is time to take non-racial stand when voting.

Say yes to ‘ketuanan rakyat', and no to Umnoputras and their cronies, including those in MIC, PPP, HRP, MIUP, and now possibly Gobala.

Temenggong: Gobala gets votes. By alienating Gobala, PKR is heading for ruin. Without him in PKR, there are only Indian puppets in the party. As Surendran is also a principled person, expect him to leave the party in a few years.

Petestop: What is the point of being a hero? Even if you win the battle, you still lose the war. If you cannot take over the federal government, the lot of the Indians will remain as it is. You can be sure MIC will continue to be there to rip you off.
