Several employees unions under Cuepacs today protested what they claimed as irregularities at the union's 25 convention from Dec 21-23.

Former Cuepacs deputy president Husain Mohd Yasin presented the protest letter to Trade Union Affairs director-general Omana PVC Pillai at Human Resources Ministry today.

Husain, who is Universiti Malaya Staff Union president, said the election of office bearers contravened the Cuepacs constitution and rules and the Trade Unions Act 1959.

"The notice given to affiliates was short and against the constitution while there were irregularities during voting like canvassing to delegates.

"Result of the elections were also not announced after voting but delayed until the next morning," he told reporters in Putrajaya.

Other unions that protested were those of the Malaysian Agriculture Research Development Institute (Mardi), Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).
