The lingering question that keeps coming back again and again is will Umno stage a May 13-like problem if it loses the next general election. The answer: it looks very, very possible.

All the Umno slogans, the 1Malaysia, which actually means Umno is No 1 in the coalition, is ketuanaan Melayu by another name. And Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's call to defend Putrajaya with their lives is yet another clue.

The continuous provocation of other races by Ibrahim Ali and his Perkasa followers and the fact that the government has done nothing in the face of such provocations is another pointer.

Umno’s newspaper Utusan Malaysia and it's extreme right wing views and often derogatory statements about the other races is yet another indication.

The continuous bashing of Indians in police custody, and the fact that no serious effort has been made to address this, has all gone to show that this BN government under the leadership of the 1Umno head are laying the groundwork with which such a problem could arise and how they can then blame the other races for having incited it.

The next general election can be expected before April next year, I dare say, after the Chinese New Year and that its announcement will be made shortly after the Chinese New Year holidays.

This government can't afford to wait, and the long overdue GST can't wait any longer, for there aren’t sufficient funds for the corrupt to lay their hands on significant amounts.

Petrol price hikes will result in more Malays turning their back on Umno, and the GST will have the same effect,  so what are Najib and his boys going to do? Not to call a GE soon enough is suicidal, for this government can't hold on for too long.

The party has, in the face of all the hullabaloo created by its agents in the opposition, managed to win back some credibility, but each time the BN government thinks it is in the driver’s seat, another Umno man or supporter says something stupid and the plans fall back to square one.

Malays have been conned for far too long by Umno, and the Malays who managed to get themselves an education now can read between the lies of Umno, so it’s a huge discredit to this party that at one time had almost every Malay vote stitched up.

To many of them Najib is lallang : had he backed either Anwar Ibrahim, when he talked about cronyism, or backed Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, when he challenged Dr Mahathir Mohamad, they'd have had more respect for him.

Now that the Mamak Kutty has been exposed, Najib's credibility seems to have fallen. The young Turks are not too independent, they do listen to their parents who scorn Najib and his leadership - they have lived through it and they know what's going on.

In the 1969 general election, the caption on all Alliance banners were, "Vote the Alliance for Peace, Prosperity and Racial Harmony".

The coalition, as it existed then, told the voters in no uncertain terms: vote the Alliance or there will be no peace and no racial harmony. And that is actually what happened after the government, for the first time in its history, lost its two-thirds majority in Parliament.

The racial riots of May 13 broke out and I am apt to believe RPK's story on how it all began.

Najib is telling Malaysians the same thing, over and over again, with his latest, "Don't gamble on your future."

Umno has been in power since Merdeka. Today we are not a divided nation, rather a fragmented one, and the BN loves that because as long as it is that way, the coalition can do anything it pleases, including have another Port Klang fiasco, building a 100-storey tower to  show that Malaysia Boleh (or, buang wang ), and in the process, line the pockets of some of the rich and famous.

Vote the BN at your own peril.

Don't gamble the future of your children any more. Vote in a new government, not the BN, .and certainly not Umno.
