Dewan Rakyat Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia rejected the ‘minority report’ written by the two opposition MPs who sat on the rights and privileges committee from being included in the full majority report which is recommending the suspension of opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.

NONE“He said that we did not follow procedure,” said Subang parliamentarian R Sivarasa (right in pic) who co-authored the report with Bukit Gelugor parliamentarian Karpal Singh (left in pic).

Sivarasa explained that according to the rejection letter, the speaker questioned the procedure by which the two came up with the report, saying that they should have sent in their reports to the powerful parliamentary committee which sat to discuss the matter.

However, he said that both he and Karpal excused themselves from the committee after disagreeing with the majority view that decided not to call witnesses nor see any evidence from Anwar and depending totally on the Hansard and the official letter from consultancy firm Apco Worldwide to issue its decision.

Sivarasa said that they will distribute the report to the media and other parliamentarians so that their side of the story will be heard.

Anwar was referred to the rights and privileges committee after the government took him to task over his allegations in the House linking 1Malaysia with 1Israel and claiming that Apco was the real brains behind Premier Naib Abdul Razak’s much talked about brainchild.
