Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said today that he understood that the 12,000-odd restaurants, most of which operate round the clock, had difficulty finding locals willing to work 12 hours a day.
"I believe we can resolve this matter (of shortage of workers) in the near future," he added when opening the 34th annual delegates conference of Kimma at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.
He also expressed readiness to help the Indian Muslim Education Foundation to improve the standing of the community through academic achievement.
Muhyiddin, who is Umno Deputy President, suggested that Kimma submit a detailed plan on how to help Indian Muslim petty traders facing difficulty getting financial assistance.
As for the request of the Umno associate member to be represented in the government, he said that it would be given due consideration.
