Cop: I'm not sure how many shots I fired

A witness in the Aminulrasyid Amzah shooting trial said today that he shot out a tyre on the white Proton Iswara driven by the teenager, in a bid to get the runaway car to stop.
The first shooter in the Aminulrasyid trial says he took about 10 seconds to shoot out a tyre on the car.

Constable Mohd Izham Mahayuddin said he spent around 10 seconds shooting at the car's rear right tyre while the patrol car he was in came up on the right of Aminulrasyid's car at Bulatan Kayangan.
"When I fired the shots, I saw it hit the rear right tyre and that the fuel tank had been punctured. I saw fuel leaking out," he said during examination-in-chief by deputy public prosecutor Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar (right).
When asked, Mohd Izham said he could not recall how many shots he fired over the 10 seconds.
He pointed out however that he stopped shooting the moment the chase shifted onto Persiaran Kayangan.
At that point, he said his patrol car decided to tail Aminulrasyid's car, which eventually took a left turn onto Jalan Wau 11/1.
He said the car was swaying erratically going into the turn, but still travelled at a reasonably high speed of 80km/h.
Further down the road, Aminulrasyid's Iswara then took another left onto Jalan Tarian, where he saw the car wobbling even worse.
Mohd Izham said all this while, he was not sure of the location of the second patrol car, which carried shooting accused Jenain Subin, and assumed that it was behind his patrol unit.
High speed car chase
Earlier, the constable, who was in the first patrol car that pursued Aminulrasyid's white Proton Iswara that fateful night, gave nothing short of a Hollywood-esque description of the chase.
He told the Shah Alam Sessions court that the boy's car had swerved left and right, on no less than two occasions during the chase, to stop the patrol cars from overtaking.
Mohd Izham said in the first incident, the white Iswara had attempted three times to run their Proton Waja patrol car off the road along Persiaran Masjid, and nearly succeeded in its second try when the patrol car came close to driving up a road divider.
The second incident happened after they were joined by a second patrol car in the chase along Persiaran Kayangan.
"Both patrol cars tried a few times to overtake but the Iswara would not give us a chance," he said.
"When we tried to go left, the Iswara would cut left and when we tried to go right, it would cut right. This happened about three or four times."
'The Iswara looked suspicious'
Earlier when describing how the chase started, Mohd Izham said his patrol car, driven by corporal Azahar Hashim, was just finishing a turn when Aminulrasyid's Iswara zoomed past them from behind.
"When this happened, corporal Azahar said the car ran a red light, was overtaking dangerously and looked suspicious," he said in explaining their reasons for giving chase.
Mohd Izham noted that he had, using the patrol car hailer, repeatedly ordered the Iswara to slow down and stop by the side of the road but noticed Aminulrasyid's car only going faster.
The constable said it was hard to estimate Aminulrasyid's average speed, though he noted that at some points of the chase the tyres on both cars were screeching, indicating that they were going at high speed.
He did point out that the Iswara had reached between 120 and 130 km/h on at least one stretch.
Mohd Izham added that when taking a high-speed turn onto Persiaran Kayangan, Aminulrasyid's car ran a red light and nearly rammed into a motorcyclist, who managed to stop his bike just in time to avoid impact.
The trial has been adjourned to tomorrow morning, with the prosecution continuing their examination of the witness.
Corporal Jenain Subin, 48 (left), is being charged with culpable homicide for allegedly shooting dead Aminulrasyid during the car chase between 1.10am and 2am on Apr 26 this year.
