Pensioners can withdraw the RM500 Special Financial Assistance given by the government through the banks beginning tomorrow.

A statement from the Public Service Department today said pensioners did not need to fill up the Pension Claim Form at the bank counters (under Scheme B) for the withdrawal because the money was credited directly into their bank accounts.

For pensioners paid by warrants, they would receive the warrants by post and could encash them immediately.

Checks could be carried out through the Post-Service Division's portal.

When tabling the 2011 Budget on Oct 15, Prime Minister Najib Razak announced the payment of the Special Financial Assistance to all civil servants and government pensioners.

The assistance aims to reduce the burden of civil servants in coping with schooling expenses and would be provided to all civil servants from Grade 54 and below, including contract officers and retirees.
