Penang PAS has lodged a police report in Kepala Batas over banners alleging that the party rejected the state government’s senior citizen appreciation award of RM100 as it was derived from gambling sources.

NONEPAS is upset as the banners, which were found in several locations, carry the party’s symbol, logo of the state government and a picture of horse racing, with a slogan that screams “We do not want gambling money”.

The report which deemed the banners “slanderous’ was lodged by Kepala Batas PAS Youth chief Mohd Hafis Kasim, accompanied by several members from Kepala Batas and Tasik Gelugor.

Mohd Hafis denied that PAS was responsible for the banners as the party is a component of Pakatan Rakyat in Penang, and pledged total support for the state government headed by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

NONEHe added that there were certain quarters uneasy with Penang Pakatan’s increasing potential to make the rakyat more confident towards the state government’s policies.

“This is what makes them envious, and therefore all kinds of propaganda are created one after another,” he said.

“We can detect who are they are; we are also confident that these people are very bad; they are like worms squirming to get sympathy from the rakyat and are willing to do anything for it,” he added.  

Mohd Hafis was also referring to several incidents which had put Lim and his administration in a spot, for example, allegations that the former’s name replaced the Agong’s in Friday sermons and rumours that he had slaughtered a cow for sacrifice, a ceremony only permitted for Muslims.

‘Bankrupt of capital’

Penang PAS commissioner Rosli Hasan, who was also present during the event, said that the group who were responsible for the banner are “stubborn and bankrupt of capital”.

He added that they had the opportunity to do good in the past, but failed to do so due to personal interest.

NONE“When we took over Penang, we made changes which are good from the aspect of development, including improving the morals of the people,”he said.

“Their morals are gone, they are even willing to show their behinds, what happened to them?” he queried.

He was referring to Penang opposition leader and Penaga assemblyperson Azhar Ibrahim who was suspended last year by the state legislature assembly’s rights and privileges committee for showing his behind to the speaker in the house.

According to Rosli, BN has ruled Penang long enough, and in the process became less intelligent, therefore the state needed to be taken over by Pakatan.

“They may also be the ones who have pawned off the Malay land in Penang,” he said,

“We urge this group to repent and sit quietly, and allow Pakatan to take care of the people with the highest commitment for all Penangites and Malaysians,” he added.
