Malay newspapers

Berita Harian led with a doctor relating his own experience of the exorbitantly high cost of treatment at a private hospital.

Sinar Harian front-paged opposition leader and PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim's refusal to engage in verbal fisticuffs with his political nemesis and former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in response to the latter's call for him dissolve the party.

Chinese newspapers

Both China Press and Oriental Daily News front-paged the death of former Penang chief minister Dr Lim Chong Eu.

Nanyang Siang Pau led with the news that more Malaysians are investing in foreign currency. Many banks have launched foreign currency deposit services and the most popular currency appeared to be Renminbi.

Sin Chew Daily front-paged the tension between North and South Korea. Both countries had threatened to launch more attacks if the other side take any aggressive action.

Editorial

New Straits Times called on China to mediate in the artillery exchanges between North and South Korea.

Berita Harian , on the other hand, opined that the impending war between the two countries will affect peace in Asia, especially if the United States or China intervened.

Sin Chew Daily said that any attempt to isolate or impose more sanctions on North Korea would only heighten the tension. Hence the international society should engage North Korea through dialogue.

China Press criticised the security at the Seremban court complex which had been broken into twice in three months. This will affect the hearing of pending cases.
