Tanjung Karang MP Noh Omar told opposition counterparts to stay out of the problems between him and Sekinchan state assemblyperson Ng Suee Lim.

The agriculture and agro-based industries minister said that he has sent a letter to Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim and all the state’s assembly representatives from both sides of the divide regarding plantation issues.

He said this in the Dewan Rakyat today in a face-off with Batu Gajah DAP parliamentarian Fong Po Kuan who demanded to know why the minister had justified the assault on Ng.

NONE Ng was warded for concussion on Nov 4 after he was allegedly assaulted by 30 men at Sawah Sempadan which borders the Tanjong Karang parlimentary constituency and the Sekinchan state constituency.

Fong asked Noh ( left ) to clarify why he condoned the attack and defended it by saying that Ng “deserved it” for holding a rally without a police permit.

She also accused him of behaving like a “gangster” for choosing to encourage a violent confrontation rather than solving it amicably.  

A shouting match then took centre stage as Noh was giving his explanation to questions posed during the Supply Bill 2011 debate.

Noh was about to respond to Fong’s question when the opposition bench started calling Noh “ samseng ”.

‘Embarrassment to the government’

Deputy Dewan Rakyat speaker Ronald Kiandee interrupted and directed Noh and the MPs to stop the shouting match as it had nothing to do with the Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Ministry.

Despite being told to stop arguing, the MPs continued for about 10 minutes. Noh then stood up and said that he would take Fong’s questions.

“But minister, you are lucky there is no cabinet reshuffle soon. Otherwise you will definitely be dropped.

“Why did you say the Sekinchan assemblyman deserved it? Why are you encouraging violent behaviour?” she asked once more.

However, Noh brushed off her queries and told the opposition MPs that he will deal directly on the matter with Ng.
