The Shah Alam High Court today retraced the last journey that teenager Aminulrasyid Amzah took before he was shot to death by police after a car chase.

NONE Four witnesses including Aminulrasyid’s friend, Azamuddin Omar and two policemen were in the convoy to identify the route of the car chase in the April 26 incident.

Earlier, the court had heard testimony from crime scene investigator Chief Insp Mazli Jusoh, one of the CSI’s despatched to the scene.

He said that he had taken Azamuddin to identify the route and the scene of the incident during investigations on May 5.

NONE Questioned by DPP Dusuki Mokhtar, Mazli ( left ) said it had taken him about an hour to investigate the route which started from a restaurant in Section 17 and ended in a residential area in Section 11, Shah Alam, where Aminulrasyid’s car crashed into a drain.

Missing illustrations

He said that he had not prepared a rough illustration for the entire route, but had focused only on Jalan Tarian 11/2 where the crash occurred.

Mazli said the illustration was done based on statements by Azamuddin as well as the accused, Corporal Jenain Subi.

He told the court that Azamuddin was sitting in the car driven by Aminulrasyid, while Jenain was in the patrol car that was chasing the car.

azlan Dusuki then applied to the court to visit the location and the route, which judge Latifah Mohd Tahar allowed.

Jenain, 48, is charged with causing Aminulrasyid’s death at Jalan Tarian 11/2 in Seksyen 11, between 1.10am and 2am on April 26.

The charge under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code provides for a maximum jail sentence of 30 years and a fine upon conviction.

Tracing the final route

The court entourage during the site visit includes Dusuki, DPPs Idham Abdul Ghani and Adilla Ahmad, accused Jenain, his lawyers M Athimulan and Salim Bashir, and Mazli.

Azamuddin showed the court entourage the location where Aminulrasyid began their fateful journey, in front of a restaurant where their vehicle grazed a parked Toyota Celica.

The court entourage, who brought to the scene on a police bus, was taken to Jalan Platinum G7/56 and then to Jalan Platinum  G7/58, Persiaran Kayangan, Bulatan Kayangan, before entering Persiaran Dato Menteri.

During the hour-long visit, they were also taken to a location where the car driven by Aminulrasyid grazed with a motorcycle and the location where the car was pursued by the police at Persiaran Dato Menteri near the PKNS Complex.

The bus carrying the entourage also trailed the route taken by Aminulrasyid when pursued by the police until to a location where the car, bearing registration BET 5023, skidded and crashed.

Azamuddin was seen explaining to the judge and lawyers what happened on the day of the incident and how he escaped from the car through the windscreen before fleeing towards Jalan Gamelan 11/2E nearby.
