The IPCMC (Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission) could have done this but the BN was more concerned about keeping the police vote and hiding the blatant and rampant corruption, abuse of power and other misdeeds of the police force in return for their total and absolute loyalty.

What has happened to the watered down Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission? The bill was passed and received the royal assent but has yet to be brought into effect by the minister concerned.

Why? The usual excuses. PM Najib Abdul Razak is not interested in fundamental reforms.

Oranje: When Indians are shot dead, there is not much ‘hoo haa'. They are "criminals" anyway and none of the so-called civil societies were bothered. If more Malays were shot dead, then the whole rakyat would wake up to these injustices. It's sad that justice has to work based on race.

P Dev Anand Pillai: Unfortunately the Malays, even though their young are shot at by cops who are from the same race, will eventually say that it is fated and continue to vote for BN.

Once a upon a time, it was mostly the Indians who were eliminated like this, now Malays seem to be falling prey. Whether Malay, Chinese or Indian - everybody deserves a chance to a fair trial.

Bobby Cheng: Everyone in this country is too caught up with race and religious issues. Simple human rights, justice and righteousness have long been neglected and taken lightly. Life is cheap in this land, be it Malays, Chinese, Indians or dan lain-lain.

Sentinel: Set up the IPCMC immediately without delay. The rakyat demands that they get protected from crimes by the police and not let those who commit these crimes go unpunished. This is all a result of former IGP Musa Hassan, who had allowed the situation to deteriorate to such a level.


PKR election drama returns with more rowdy scenes


Justicekini: This drama unfolding is showing that PKR is kicking and alive. Umno is no better. It's happen there as well. Let's hope those who are so keen for position will be able to perform.

Count me out for their rowdy manners. This should not have happened. But it is the first time PKR is having direct elections. I hope these hiccups will not prevail at the next elections.

A Coward: If the allegations are true, the leadership quality of that particular branch or division is questionable.

From the positive point of view, some of the weaknesses of the party surfaced at the direct party election. Now the leadership must take the initiative to address them and not like Umno/BN, which sweep all their weaknesses under the carpet.

The party must focus on these weaknesses. Training and education programmes or some other measure must be provided. These low-standard branches and divisions will give a very negative impression of the party to the public (who are voters)!


NGOs are 'non-government' for a reason, BN told

Contest for No 2: 'I didn't know it would get this bad'

Bradley: Syed Husin Ali, we are not satisfied with a leader who has major flaws. We do not compromise, especially with a person who is so high up in the hierarchy.

I am not sure about Zaid Ibrahim, as he seems flawed too but we cannot accept Anwar and Azmin either. The leader of the opposition must be beyond doubt. If we can't find him or her in PKR, we should look to PAS or DAP.

It's time to reform PKR. It seems like the politics of the 2008 has come to a crossroad. It's shakedown time. Those who has jumped shipped has shown their true colours. We will finish them off in the next election. Those who are still bent on their ex-Umno ways must be booted out.

There is still life after Anwar, Azmin and Zaid.

Anticommunalist: Whatever said and done, Syed Husin has earned the respect of the nation for his life long sacrifices. I am not a fan of Anwar but Syed Husin is a different breed altogether. It's a pity that the nation was not ready for him in his younger years.
