Su: Suicidal for Kula to accept vice-chair post

A staunch supporter of former Perak DAP deputy chairperson M Kulasegaran said that it would political suicide for the latter to accept the post of state party vice-chairperson.
If he does, the ex-Perak DAP deputy chief will lose respect he has enjoyed, said Kula's ally.

Thomas Su (left in photo), who is regarded by Chinese newspapers as Kulasegaran's general, said that the offer was also insulting.
"If Kulasegaran takes up this offer, then it will be the death of his political career as he will lose the respect that he carries as a senior party leader.
"It is also an insult to give appoint his former political secretary V Sivakumar as the new deputy chairperson while his mentor is given a lower post," said Su.
Su advised Kulasegaran not to lose his dignity and decline the position offered and "walk out with his head held high".
He was commenting on the surprising results of the Perak DAP poll held yesterday, which saw all but one of Kulasegaran's teammates routed in the election of 15 committee members.
The committee then convened a meeting to reappoint Ngeh Khoo Ham (right) as the state DAP chairperson. Reportedly under Ngeh's instructions, they also agreed to co-opt Kulasegaran and A Sivanesan as vice-chairpersons.
But critics claim that the victory by Ngeh's camp was soured by claims that they unfairly established a lot of new branches - which sent seven delegates for the polls - to increase their vote bank.
Su pointed out that during the 2008 party elections, Kulasegaran had polled the highest but still showed magnanimity by giving way to Ngeh, who ranked 5th then, to become the state DAP chair.
"Likewise, why can't Ngeh and Nga (Kor Ming) be gracious enough to make a similar offer of the higher post (of deputy chief) to Kulasegaran?' asked Su.
In the 2008 state party polls, Leong Mee Meng came in second while Sivanesan came in third. Su was fifth. This time round, Leong came 15th while others allied with Kulasegaran, didn't make the cut.
'We were caught napping'
Su agreed that Kulasegaran's camp were slow in forming new branches to increase their support base while Ngeh's camp aggressively did so.
He said that the delay in reviving dormant branches or forming new branches had cost Kulasegaran and his followers dearly.
He explained that the party constitution stipulates that all applications for new branches will be forwarded to him, as the organising secretary, for scrutiny.
He will then form pro-tem committees for such new branches before forwarding such applications for the state committee's approval.
Once approved, the applications would be sent to the party's national central committee for a final approval.
Su claims that such procedures were not followed by Ngeh's camp and the applications were sent directly to the party headquarters.
Previously, Ngeh had told the press that such applications could be referred to then assistant organising secretary Teh Hock Ke and not necessarily through Su.
Su said that Teh's duty is merely to assist him and not usurp his authority.
"Its like this. When Kulasegaran was Ngeh's deputy, could he overrule the state chairperson?" asked Su.
