Selangor backbenchers have berated Tanjung Karang Umno division head Noh Omar for his recent attack on the Pakatan-led state administration, over reported irregularities involving a cancelled RM300,000 Yayasan Selangor lunch.

"Noh's statements are lies and provocations aimed at marring the image of the state government," Seri Muda assemblyperson Shuhaimi Shafiei told a press conference at the state assembly building today.

He surmised that Noh, who is state Umno deputy liaison chief, probably wants to play the hero and is trying to shine in premier Najib Abdul Razak's eyes, having set his sights on a promotion.

"If he wants to attract the PM's attention so that he will be appointed state Umno liaision chief, there are to other ways for him to do so,” Shuhaimi said.

“He does not need to take advantage of this. My advice to Noh is ‘jangan menangguk di air keruh’ (don't take advantage of a murky situation).”

Irregularities alleged

Shuhaimi and Sekinchan assemblyperson Ng Suee Lim, who was present, opened another front in their attack, telling Noh to look into matters in the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry, which he heads as minister.

"He has yet to answer for problems with the distribution of fertiliser to padi farmers nationwide," said Suhaimi.

Ng (left) ang suee limdded that the problem is a serious one as padi farmers may experience up to a 30 percent drop in productivity. He urged Noh to get his house in order instead of meddling elsewhere.

They also raised allegations of irregularities in the award of the fertiliser supply contract to a Selangor Umno Youth leader, saying this involves "cronies".

Last Saturday Noh had held a press conference at the Umno building in Shah Alam.

He lambasted the state and its investment arm Yayasan Selangor for the planned celebratory lunch, claiming that it cost RM800,000 and that there is more abuse afoot.

"If itnoh omar continues to be administered by Pakatan Rakyat, the future of Selangor will be bleak. They cannot run a foundation, can't run sand (mining), so how are they going to run the state?" Noh asked.

The Umno leader has been a constant critic of the state government, and had recently been involved in a spat over the alleged assault of Ng.
