Deputy Finance Minister Awang Adek Hussein today anticipated that the price of RON95 petrol will not be increased for a certain period of time so as to allow the people to feel comfortable with the current price.

"People need to feel comfortable with the price of RON95 which probably will not be increased for a certain time," he said when winding up debate on the Supply Bill 2011 for his ministry at the Dewan Rakyat today.

However, Awang Adek said the public should accept the fact that the price of RON97, which was increased by five sen to RM2.15 per litre recently, was uncertain because it would be based on the world market price.

On the subsidy allocation for petrol and liquefied gas in 2011, he said the estimates made for the 2011 subsidy was based on estimates of world oil and gas, which were expected to be higher in 2011 than 2010.

He said if the subsidies remained at the current rate, it would involve an increase in the allocation.

Meanwhile, Awang Adek also informed the Dewan Rakyat that so far only 1.9 per cent of credit card users failed to pay their debts.
