Najib recovers, back to work on Friday
Prime Minister Najib Razak will resume normal duties soon as his ulcers have healed, said Health director-general Dr Mohd Ismail Merican.
Prime Minister Najib Razak, who had been hospitalised with gastritis linked to a case of chicken pox, will resume normal duties soon as his ulcers have healed.
"He is expected to chair the cabinet meeting on Friday," said Health director-general Dr Mohd Ismail Merican in a statement to Bernama today.
Dr Mohd Ismail said Najib underwent an endoscopy at the Selayang Hospital near here this morning, which showed that his ulcers had healed.
"His personal physicians said the prime minister is making very good progress," he added.
Najib, who had contracted chicken pox late last month, was admitted to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital on Thursday for superficial ulcers and mild gastritis and discharged on Sunday.
He was advised to rest at home.
The premier fell ill during an Asian summit in Vietnam on Oct 30 and has since missed meetings in Malaysia with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Australia's Prime Minister Julia Gillard.
