Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president Yong Teck Lee said his party had yet to decide on whether to file a petition over the Batu Sapi by-election and will wait to see if PKR would file first.

NONE"We have not reached the stage where we have to make a decision. We have a few weeks to decide. After all, it's only been two days after the by-election," he said when met by reporters after opening his party’s 2010 Congress.

He added that they would have to see what PKR’s Ansari Abdullah who also lost in the by-election, was going to do.

"If Ansari were to file an election petition, we can provide all the evidence. We have lots of evidence. They are still coming in, in bits and pieces."

He said this in reference to his claim, in his opening speech, of gross impropriety including "money politics" committed by BN during campaigning and even after the campaign period ended.

Ball in Pakatan’s court

Yong also said that he would leave it to PKR to invite SAPP to join forces as the opposition - Pakatan Rakyat.

“We have been talking with PKR at various times. But (right now) we are not really in a position of strength to talk to Pakatan. The ball is in their court.

"We are not closing the door," he said when asked to respond to Ansari’s latest statement that "instead of wasting power and resources, SAPP should be in Pakatan".
