Ballot papers without party symbol spotted in Galas

The Galas PAS candidate’s wife, Zainab Jalar has spotted an anomaly in the ballot papers issued by the Election Commission on polling day as they were issued without the party logo.
The Galas PAS candidate’s wife, Zainab Jalar has spotted an anomaly in the ballot papers issued by the Election Commission on polling day as they were issued without the party logo.
According to the PAS website the ballot papers were spotted at SRJK (C) Kampung Baru, where Zainab is a voter.
“While trying to cast my vote, I noticed that the ballot paper given to me did not have the party symbol beside my husband’s name, Dr Zulkefli Mohamad. It only had the name of my husband,” she was quoted as saying by the website.
Following the incident, she immediately contacted the PAS party machinery for further action and informed PAS lawyers.
PAS election director Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman (left) confirmed that three police reports were lodged on the matter.
“We are worried that the ballot papers would be recognised as a spoilt vote as it create doubts,” he said at a press conference in Wisma Sri Galas, adding there are other cases but the complainants do not want to come forward.
PAS lawyer Hisyam Fauzi said the matter was brought up to the EC, and they are investigating the matter. Hopefully there will be no repeat, he said.
Hisyam said he received two complaints, the other in Sungai Terah.
PKR alleges presence of phantom voter
Meanwhile, at the Batu Sapi polls, PKR has alleged the presence of a phantom voter at the SMK Batu Sapi polling station.
PKR Wanita exco member Rozaini Mohd Rosli, a polling agent there, said a voter, Mad Yusof Milaham, could not vote because his ballot paper had been issued to another person earlier.
Rozaini lodged an objection to the EC. Meanwhile, Mad Yusof, who came out from the polling station, also lodged a report with the EC.
Rozaini claimed some voters are using temporary ICs to vote because they have not received their MyKads after they had submitted their old IC for renewal.
