Clearly the whole Bakun project has been a complete and expensive disaster in nearly all respects and it will become an even greater one if Sarawak Chief Minister Taib Mahmud and his cronies get hold of it for the aluminium smelter plans.

But we now have this awful dam and short of dynamiting the thing there is one very constructive use for the huge amount of power that it will be able to produce. Use the electricity to power a proper public transport system for all the major cities and towns of Sarawak.

Install Mass Rapid Transit systems for Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri and perhaps tram systems as well for the major towns. This would greatly alleviate the traffic jams that are now plaguing all the built-up areas of Sarawak and also greatly reduce the emissions and hence pollution from all the cars.

But, of course, this will never come about under Taib Mahmud because such a use of the electricity will mainly benefit the poorer amongst society and Taib will get nothing from it.

But wait a minute - Taib - I have just thought how you and all your family and cronies can benefit from such an idea and reap huge rewards so that you can buy more houses and property in London, Ottawa, San Francisco, Adelaide, Perth, Paris (to name but a few)!

To install a Mass Rapid Transit system will cost many millions of ringgit and large contracts will be up for grabs.

So there you have it Mr Chief Minister, lots of cash for CMS Sdn.Bhd., PPES Works Sdn.Bhd., Naim Cendura Sdn.Bhd., together with those companies owned by your sister Roziah and her Lebanese/Australian lawyer husband Robert Geneid. A win-win situation!
