As nominations for the PKR party elections enter its second week, party vice-president Azmin Ali continues to leave his other contenders in the dust in the nominations tally for deputy presidency.

azmin ali pc in parliament 020709 02In the fifth day of nominations, Azmin’s (left) total tally has ballooned to 58 nominations. Meanwhile, his closest contender supreme council member Zaid Ibrahim still trails with 25 nominations.

Perak PKR chief Mustaffa Kamil Ayub has managed to garner 13 nominations so far, and as expected, they come mostly from his home state.

However, the popular grassroots leader was dealt a shocking blow when he lost his bid to retain the chair of his own Pasir Salak division to Osman Abdul Rahman in a straight fight.

Interestingly, his division had also nominated Mustaffa Kamil for deputy presidency.

In the meantime, party strategic director Tian Chua still has two nominations, that sufficiently qualifies him to run for deputy president.

NONEIt is still wait and see, however, for Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim (right) and elections director Fuziah Salleh who till now have only one nomination each for party number two.

At the divisional level however, Zaid has managed to retain his post as Wangsa Maju chief.

As for the bid for vice-presidency, Fuziah, Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, vice-president Lee Boon Chye and deputy Penang chief minister Mansor Othman continue to lead the nominations numbers.

A total of 37 divisions in nine states met today to hold their annual general meeting and to make nominations for the posts of president, deputy president and four vice-presidents.
