Kit Siang: Why are MCA cybertroopers attacking me?

DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang wants MCA to explain why it is so upset that they unleashed their cybertroopers on him.

He claimed that the cause of the alleged "cybertrooper attack" was his parliamentary question for the first day of the 2011 budget meeting of Parliament beginning on Oct 11.

The question which is addressed to Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein, asked for a "list of the dates and nature of police reports lodged against the lawyer brothers in Banting suspected of being involved in the Sosilawati murders".

Kit Siang (left) also asked the minister to provide "reasons for police inaction which have gravely undermined public confidence in police professionalism and the latest actions on these police reports".

"Why is the party so deadset against my parliamentary question that the MCA cybertroopers launched a concerted attack against me on Twitter last night?" asked the veteran politician in a statement emailed to the media yesterday.

Swamped by negativity

Lim announced his question on micro-blog site Twitter the night before last and has been swamped by negative responses to his tweet on the question.

He is alleging the negative responses are an attack by MCA cybertroopers.

Lim said that his question was based on inspector-general of police Ismail Omar's (right) public admission that Sosilawati's case could have been prevented if fast and proper investigation had been conducted over earlier reports of missing persons.

"It is with shock that I find my question demanding to know from Hishammuddin the reasons for police inaction over the spate of police reports against the lawyer brothers over the past five years had attracted such animosity and provoked ferocious fire from MCA cybertroopers," said the Ipoh Timur parliamentarian.

He contended that the MCA reaction to his question showed complete denial of the fact that the party is collectively responsible for the "terminal degradation and deterioration of the key national institutions in the country, including the police".

"If this is the MCA mentality, how can Malaysians expect its ministers to speak up in cabinet and government for an efficient, professional and world-class police service to ensure the safety of citizens, investors, visitors and tourists by keeping criminals at bay?," sniped Lim in a parting shot.
