Dozens of PKR divisions will be holding their annual general meetings (AGMs) from today to elect their leaders and also nominate candidates for positions in the central leadership.

Divisions in Kedah and Kelantan will begin their AGMs today while those Perak, Pahang, Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Perlis and Sabah will hold their meetings starting tomorrow.
PKR divisions in the states of Selangor, Johor, Sarawak and the Federal Territories will be holding their AGMs from next weekend.
A heated contest is expected in several divisions involving major PKR personalities.
In Selangor, Khalid Ibrahim is fending off three challengers for his position as Kuala Selangor division chief - a challenge that comes despite Khalid being the Ijok state assemblyperson and Selangor menteri besar.
Even Selangor PKR chief Azmin Ali is being challenged in the Gombak division, which he currently leads. Azmin is also the Gombak MP.
In Perak, PKR vice-president and state PKR chief Mustafa Kamil Ayub is expected to face a stiff challenge from those eyeing his Pasir Salak division chairperson's position.
After the dust from more than 200 divisional meetings settles, nominations for the central leadership positions will officially close on Oct 10. The list of candidates will be finalised and displayed on Oct 24.

he casting of ballots for the national leadership will be carried out at the divisional levels and will be held on weekends, between Oct 29 and Nov 21. About 400,000 members will be entitled to vote in the elections.
Voting in Selangor, Sabah, Penang, Perak and the Federal Territories will attract the most attention as theses states hold the bulk of the party's membership. Selangor has the most number of members followed by Sabah, Penang and Perak.
PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution said despite the large number of contests, he had received only 10 complaints at the nomination stage.
However, he does not discount more complaints when the division meetings and voting start.
The PKR national congress is scheduled to be held on Nov 27.
