Kelana Jaya PKR division chief Syed Shahir Mohamud has clarified that his "party enemies" remark did not refer to anyone in particular.

mtuc syabas pc 091007 syed shahir "No... no... I wasn't referring to anyone. We are having party elections now. As a party member, we need to remind our party (to be careful)," he said when contacted.

"This is a normal comment. It is just a reminder and a form of criticism for the party because of the party elections."

Syed Shahir ( left ) said this when asked to comment about PKR supreme council member Zaid Ibrahim's blog posting today, who took offence over the former's remarks.

According to Zaid, who is vying for the party deputy presidency, Syed Shahir was referring to himself and tycoon Soh Chee Wen as the "party enemies".

Soh was formerly a close associate of Anwar but is believed to have gradually lessened his involvement with the party.

However, as Zaid admits in his blog post, Soh is a good friend of his.

‘Ask Zaid'

Zaid was responding to Syed Shahir's comments yesterday that the party must be wary of "party enemies" that will take advantage of warring factions if there was an unhealthy campaign for party polls which will be held in November.

NONE However, Syed Shahir did not mention Zaid ( right ) nor Soh by name and instead urged aspiring candidates to adhere to decorum in their campaigns.

Syed Shahir is the leader of a new group which claims to represent 17 out of 22 PKR divisions in Selangor which wants status quo for the top two posts in the party, although it is no secret that their real motive is to avoid an all out campaign for the deputy presidency which could damage the party.

Clarifying his earlier statement, Syed Shahir told Malaysiakini that the "enemy" was from "within and without".

Pressed if he meant Soh was the "enemy", Syed Shahir replied: "I don't know. You should ask Zaid".
