Mukhriz echoes dad's views on Perkasa

Wira: Without the umbrella of the New Economic Policy (NEP), Umno would never be able to help themselves because the process of helping the weak (including the Malays) would be open and transparent, like what is happening in Penang.

The bumiputera community will have to contend among themselves on competitive terms, not the negotiated deals under the shroud of NEP as it is happening now. In this way, the country as a whole would benefit.

Dood: We have never taken from Peter to pay Paul - so says Mukhriz Mahathir. And he is right. What really happened, and is still happening, is they have taken from Ali, Chong and Muthu to pay Umno.

The Malaysian: Mukhriz, why do companies have to reserve shares for bumiputeras prior to listing and not at the point of listing? What's with the multiple steps in corporate restructuring before a flotation if it weren't for Peter to pay Paul?

Plus, Mukhriz, when anyone becomes rich, it is incumbent on him/her to help the less privileged. Your view of "the country's policies should not rob the rich to aid the poor" is distasteful, to say the least. Malaysia does not need a self-serving person like you in the government.

WanFair: PM Najib should show that he meant what he said. When Umno distances itself from Perkasa, the party wants all members to follow the directive but here we have a deputy minister who dares to go against it. It is time to show and do the same during TDM's time when he was PM - get tough and exercise your authority.

You will be seen as a weak leader if you cannot exercise control over your own party members, worst still a deputy minister. Give him a show-cause letter as this is a sign of disrespect of your position as PM.

Terus: It is clear that Mukhriz as the filial son cannot disagree with his dad. Most of us will not contradict our father's thinking even if it contradicts ours. After all, is it not because of the father's influence that the loser in the Umno Youth election gets to be a deputy minister while the winner gets nothing?

Urban Malaysian: Of course, the country's policies should not rob the rich to aid the poor; after all you and your brother are listed amongst the richest and you wouldn't want to have any part of your wealth taken away to be shared with the poor.

Someone compared you to Nurul Izzah Anwar. You absolutely pale in comparison. She is PM material. You, Mukhriz, is just another Umno rentseeker, riding on your father's influence to become PM.

Ian2003: Yeah, you didn't take from the rich and give to the poor. You took from the rich and the poor to give to your goons.

Kgen: If the rural Malays feel neglected, it's because they have been neglected by Umno, which has been plundering the country and ‘bastardising' the NEP to enrich their cronies. What has Perkasa got to do with it?

How will associating with a right-wing group intent on keeping rent-seeking privileges for the Malay elite help the rural Malays?


Dr M, Perkasa not against us: PM

Phra Ong Chao: Perkasa and Dr M not against 'us'? But who is ‘us', Najib Razak? If it means the makers of your 'fair' policies, then Mr PM, wake up and smell the coffee.

Perkasa has issued ultimatums and warnings to Umno in plain language that it is against your 'fair' policies and that Umno will lose votes if it does not listen to Perkasa. Dr Mahathir Mohamad has said that Perkasa is the crutches of a weak Umno. Maybe, PM, you have not read the news.

Anak Bangsa Malaysia: If Perkasa can give an ultimatum to Umno, and to the PM in particular, I think it is high time the whole of BN must distance itself from not only Ibrahim Ali, but also Perkasa and the likes of them.

As for PM Najib, he must be open and transparent to Malaysians. By being silent, he is making things worst for BN in the next general election. All the component parties of BN leaders must strongly voice out without fear and favour that the politics in Malaysia must be in a way that no one race is left out in our struggle for a better living.

Peter Chen: Isn't this the same PM who said the government has zero tolerance for corruption, and the next moment he says "you help me, I help you"? Why does Malaysiakini bother us with all this hot air? No one believes a person who says one thing but do the other.

Patriot: If both Perkasa and Dr M are not against you, Najib, why is that there seems to be strong objections against your policies for change, especially in the implementation of the NEM and 1Malaysia?

Protecting bumiputera rights and privileges against whom? Maybe external forces, but definitely not the non-Malays in this country, as over the years of dominance you have pulled out most of our teeth.

Having penned the above, I'd like to add that I see a genuine and sincere effort on Najib's part to bring about the most urgent changes and correct some of the mistakes of the past 'regime'. Just follow your vision for a brighter and fairer Malaysia for all and do not give in to the threats and warnings of racist elements, Malays or non-Malays.

Anak Malaysia: If Najib walks his talk, he will be out of business. The country will become bankrupt with a strengthening ringgit, the exposed market will allow unloading of foreign investors to make the differential gain and cause a liquidity drain.

I am not an economist, but can sense something is wrong. The rakyat is going to suffer under Najib, for he's listening to the wrong advisers.

Gibran: Dr M has failed in his efforts in uniting the country. His policy of divide-and-rule worked during his time but can no longer work as we Malays have woken up. We know that the so-called bumiputera policy only benefit a handful of his cronies.

Even that failed, by the looks at UEM, MAS and so and so forth. All the cronies have lost all and are in court fighting the hand that fed them. That was the effect of the bumiputera policy.

We want a country govern by ethics and equality. We have no choice but to accept reality and take the bull by its horn as there is no other short cut for growth and development. No nation has succeeded by compromising these values.


Taib's family 'profited' from Kuching sewerage project

Junaidi: Being in Sarawak, being related to Abdul Taib Mahmud and owning a company - you will get rich for sure. You won't be left out. Bare in mind, you will see those companies related to Taib will all go down the drain if he doesn't retain his status in this upcoming Sarawak election.

Daseen Old: Raziah Mahmud also said to have secured two Mara University projects on PFI (private finance initiative) at Samarahan and Mukah.

The Sarawak (Kuching) Flood Mitigation Project is a Phase 1 project under 9th Malaysia Plan, which was said to have been awarded to Naim Cendera Bhd. There is Phase 2 under 10th Malaysia Plan worth RM2 billion.

Also, the Sibu Flood Mitigation's first phase was awarded to Raziah and Hock Seng Lee Bhd. Now there is Phase 2 worth RM600 million. She is also supposed to get the Sibu and Kuching flood mitigation projects. No stopping her!

She knows her way to the top and is depriving genuine Dayak, Malay and Chinese Sarawakian contractors from securing projects in Sarawak.

Anonymous: The Sarawak river mitigation project was awarded since last year and part of it has been done already. The negotiations for the project have been on going on not only in Malaysia but even as far as China.

Everyone knows that when talking about contracts, you need to have Taib connections and kin, otherwise forget about it or just keep dreaming.

DOC: Well, you've got to hand it to Taib and his family members - they are a resourceful bunch. They can make money, and millions at that, out of shit, literally.
