Thousands of people thronged the Aidilfitri open house hosted by Prime Minister Najib Razak and cabinet members in Putrajaya today.

Among the earliest guests to wish him Selamat Hari Raya were former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and wife Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali as well as former deputy prime minister Musa Hitam.

Foreign diplomats and their family members, deputy ministers, Barisan Nasional component leaders and opposition party leaders were also among the guests at the open house.

The prime minister, wearing a baju Melayu, and wife Rosmah Mansor, wearing a modern baju hurung, greeted the guests and shook hands with them.

The open house, which was to start at 11.30am, started much earlier as there was already a huge crowd of people, including foreign tourists, arriving at Seri Perdana, the prime minister's official residence.

In the midst of receiving guests, the prime minister also gave live interviews to TV3 and Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), wishing Muslims a Happy Aidilfitri.
