There are better ways to implement laws to deter illegal activities in the country but the way that our enforcement officers go about their duties make me sick.

Recently, there have been many night raids in the country. One of which has definitely caused anger amonstt many of us.

Screaming, panic-stricken women leaped from the sixth floor of a building and sustained serious injuries. They were believed to be sex workers trying to avoid the immigration authorities.

Why do these officers enjoy such duties? This is the month of Ramadan and the men in uniform

should be fair, compassionate and kind. Frightening these poor girls resulting in injuries certainly is not a good deed.

I am not advocating that there should be vice dens all around but with better understanding, enforcement can be come effective and less harmful.

After all, this ‘oldest profession’ has been there for centuries and in many countries we can see girls eking a living from this trade. Why must Malaysia be so special?

There are thousands of illegal workers running around the country, committing crimes in broad daylight but our men in uniform are not around. But maybe it is more acceptable to harass the girls in the nightspots.
