Using of Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s name in place of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s in the ‘doa’ (prayer) after the Friday sermon must stop immediately as it is in conflict with Islamic ruling.

Dr Abdullah Md Zin, religious advisor to the prime minister, who said this, stated that if this really took place, it was shameful as it had degraded the image of Islam, which had its own rules and law.

“The Friday sermon is compulsory for Muslims and cannot be treated like the programme for a function which can simply be changed at whim.

“It is therefore inappropriate to include non-Muslims in the ‘doa’ after the Friday sermon as this had never happened before, not even during the time of Prophet Muhammad," he said in Besut today.
