Liow: MCA's stand differs from DAP's

Liow (right), who is health minister, said whatever being voiced out by MCA was made in the spirit of Barisan Nasional and in the best interest of the coalition as a whole.
"Each race has its own problems. So, as a party representing the Chinese community, MCA should continue to voice the views and aspirations of the community, but not by being racist.
"There is no harm in voicing out views and opinions, but what matters is how the BN government solve the issues raised."
He said this at a press conference in response to the remarks made by MCA president Chua Soi Lek who called on the government to relax the 30 percent bumiputera equity requirement to liberalise the economy.
Chua had touched on the subject in his speech at the National Chinese Economic Congress held in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday
Chua was also reported as saying that MCA was not afraid to share similar views with DAP when fighting for the Chinese community's interest.
Earlier, Liow witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Health Ministry and Medic Channel (M) Sdn Bhd for the launch of MedikTV.
In his speech, Liow said MedikTV would be developed in stages over the next six months involving 164 locations nationwide.
"For a start, MedikTV will be broadcast at 53 locations involving 27 hospitals, 15 state health departments, six ministry's offices and five 1Malaysia clinics nationwide.
"MedikTV will offer the latest information on health and promote our health awareness campaign directly to the patients and visitors," he said.
