The dust has yet settled from the embroglio between Felda and Pakatan Rakyat, but PAS is already training its sights on another federal land agency.

In fact, the Islamist party will embark on a road-show after Hari Raya Puasa to gather complaints pertaining to alleged fraud,  mismanagement and abuse of power in the Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felcra).

The party will then submit a memorandum on the matter to Minister of Rural and Regional Development Shafie Apdal.

damansara memo to kpm 210206 mazlan alimanIn a press conference at PAS headquarters today, the party's land and regional development bureau head Mazlan Aliman said the next step would be to submit the complaints to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

“We want to meet the settlers and hear their complaints before taking up their dissatisfaction with the minister,” he said.

He claimed that the settlers have been suffering due to the mismanagement for a long time, but did not know where to turn for assistance.

"We only found out about this when we had our Felcra assembly (last month)," he said.    

Action commitee on Felcra head Akmalluddin Mohd Nor claimed that the settlers had met with five ministers previously, but that their complaints have not been resolved to date.

"We met with Rafidah Aziz, Azmi Khalid, Aziz Shamsudin, Muhammad Muhammad Taib and Shafie Apdal. And I have written to Felcra head Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, but have not received a reply," he added.

More cases for MACC

Mazlan also said PAS has discovered 22 cases of mismanagement by Felcra and its holding companies. The alleged cases cover:

  1. The purchase of a 20,000-acre estate in Sabah
  2. RM17 million investment in the purchase of bonds that was not approved
  3. Mismanagement in Special Business Unit Felcra Bhd.
  4. Mismanagement in Koperasi Peserta-Peserta Felcra Bhd
  5. Mismanagement in the purchase of Hose and Hose company, valued at RM4.5 million.
  6. Failure of a general agricultural contract in Felcra Jemoreng, Sarawak worth RM14.8 million
  7. Suspicious cattle-fattening project in Bio Valley Felcra in Seberang Perak, for which RM18 million was allocated

azlan"Most of these allegations were reported to MACC last January and the rest will be exposed after Hari Raya, together with supporting documents,” said Mazlan.

Saying that he does not know the status of the investigations, he called for a royal commission of inquiry to investigate the allegations against Felcra.

In a press statement issued later today, Mazlan aurged the MACC to form a special task force to investigate Felcra and its subsidiaries, and to revisit complaints that had previously been lodged over the matter.

He said a major reshuffle of senior Felcra officials who had been accused of directly being involved in any wrongdoings should be undertaken.

"They (Felcra officials) have betrayed the trust placed on them".
