A group who called themselves concerned Sarawakians, have formed the Movement For Change, Sarawak (MoCS) aimed at working towards the betterment of the state and its people, its leader Francis Paul Siah said today.

francis siah uncensored nurul izzah interview 020608 05 Siah ( left ), a veteran Sarawak editor, who announced the formation of MoCS in Kuching today, said MoCS was an independent movement and not aligned to any political party.

“However, we will be friendly to all parties and groups who are sincere and eager about doing the right thing for Sarawak. We will definitely work closely with such groups and support their agendas irrespective of political alignment,” he said in a statement in Kuching.

He said its priority was to strive for a new political culture in Sarawak - free from money politics, corruption, nepotism, despotism and from politics of patronage and economic banditry.

“MoCS will also provide a platform for Sarawakians who are apolitical to be involved in a mass movement which they can believe in - a movement which struggles for their religious, cultural and economic rights,” he said.

    

“We back ourselves and finance the movement through our own pockets” Siah said, adding that some prominent personalities had endorsed MoCS.

Many Sarawakians residing in the peninsula, notably in Kuala Lumpur, Johore and Penang, had also pledged their support for MoCS, he said.
