Special Branch (SB) officers questioned one of the accused in the Rosmah graffiti case, Shazni Munir Mohamad Ithnin, about "other politically related issues", the Kuala Lumpur criminal sessions court heard today.

Testifying in the case in which five UM students face charges of vandalising property and scrawling derogatory graffiti about the prime minister's wife, Rosmah Mansor, in the campus, investigating officer Mohd Najeeb Mohamad Esam said Shazni was questioned for half-a-day.
Asked by defence counsel Mohd Razlan Jalaluddin why he handed the Universiti Malaya student leader over to the SB, Najeeb denied doing so.
"I didn't hand him (Shazni) over. The SB officer asked for my permission to question him about another case, not mine, before I allowed it."
Najeeb's statement appears to substantiate Shazni's claim, after his release from police custody last year, that he was grilled on comments he had made about the death of political aide Teoh Beng Hock, the ISA and 1Malaysia concept.
Mischief with fire
The five Universiti Malaya students are charged under sections 427, 436 and 447 of the Penal Code.
Under section 427, they are accused of dousing petrol on a carpet, which was to be used to welcome Rosmah to a function at the university campus, about 4am on June 24 last year, and scrawling graffiti on the Islamic Studies Academy wall.
Section 436 relates to committing mischief with fire while section 447 deals with criminal trespass.

To another question from Mohd Razlan, Najeeb disagreed that the SB's actions flouted the law.
However, he contradicted his earlier statement when deputy public prosecutor Aidatul Azura Zainal Abidin asked why he disagreed.
"The officer who came was from PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police Force) as well. It was for the SB's case, which had nothing to do with mine, but was still related to the graffiti case."
The other accused are Mohd Syahruldeen Ahmad Rosli, Muhammad Aizat Roslan, Muhammad Saufi Jelani and Mohd Izzuddin Helmi Mohd Zaini.
Judge Rozana Ali Yusoff fixed hearing to continue on Sept 1.
