Tee sacked as Klang municipal councillor

Giri: My dad who is a BN supporter criticised me last week, saying that even Pakatan Rakyat politicians are corrupt. I told him, ‘You wait and see how First World politicians in Pakatan deal with him. There will be no cover-up and excuses to keep him, even though he has been in the party for donkeys years.’

After this news report, need I say more?

Pemerhati: What this episode seems to suggest is that the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat government does not have a proper and transparent system of awarding contracts or jobs. If there was one, then recommendation letters should not make any difference as to who gets the job or tender, and it would not be necessary to sack anyone for giving out a recommendation letter.

This is because, as several Pakatan politicians have admitted, they issue such letters quite often so as not to disappoint their constituents and there is a clause in the letters which stipulates that the necessary regulations have to be followed.

Ghkok: Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo is still in the party. Muhammad Muhammad Taib is still in the party. Mohd Isa Samad is still in the party. Chua Soi Lek is still in the party. S Samy Vellu is still in the party. Now, who has higher ethical and moral standards - BN or Pakatan?

Bobby Cheng: When have we fellow Malaysians ever heard BN sack their corrupted cronies from the team? It will be a dream in Bolehland. Good job Pakatan. We can accept that leaders are imperfect. But we cannot compromise if councillors and politicians are found to be corrupt and amassed millions of ringgit without reason.

BN should sack the most corrupt big mouth politician in Selangor - Khir Toyo. His palace cost only RM2.5 million? A tiny terrace house in Desa Park already cost RM1.6 million, which is not far from Khir Toyo’s palace. If that’s the case, any Tom, Dick and Harry can afford to buy Khir Toyo’s palace.

Equinox: I don't know the details of this case but congratulations to the Selangor government leadership for being firm and resolute in stopping unethical behaviour. What you have done is new in this country, where there is massive cover-up to protect the black sheeps.

Mind you, the leadership has to be above board to be able to throw the first stone. It is better to err on the side of strictness than to be seen as being lax and indecisive.

ONG: Most likely, Tee Boon Hock will be safe from police or the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) prosecution team because what he had done has been and still is standard BN practice.

What Pakatan/DAP has done - sacking him from the party and state government as a councillor - had given BN a big headache and put BN in a big dilemma. If they don't prosecute him, it shows that BN’s standard is not up to Pakatan’s standard. If they prosecute him and don't prosecute BN perpetrators of similar improper conduct, it once again exposes BN’s double standard.

Klangboy: The rest of the Klang councillors should also start pulling up their socks and work harder, like clearing the traffic jam due to illegal parking and the waiting in Jalan Tengku Kelana. It’s ridiculous that the interest of a few traders and shoppers’ convenience leads to jams for the rest of Klang people. They have complained so many times that they have now given p.


Liu: I suspended aides to protect them

Swipenter: Ronnie Liu suspended his three aides to protect them and the police arrested a female reporter for her own protection.

Do you see the "same difference" here. Ronnie Liu is getting to be a liability to DAP/Pakatan as time goes by. Just maybe, DAP should suspend him to protect the party's good name and not to protect him.

Lulu: The state government should suspend Liu from his exco position, and the DAP from his membership, to ‘protect’ him, the state and the party from himself. The aides can and should sue for constructive dismissal as this suspension was by Ronnie himself, not due to their wrongdoing. Constructive dismissal will allow them to claim up to two years’ wages from Liu, depending on their terms of employment.

Kopi O: Birds of a feather flock together? This ‘I suspend them to protect them’ statement from Liu seems to coincide with Syed Hamid Albar's explaination on ISA detention of the Sin Chew reporter: "We detain her under ISA to protect her".

Mazwan Johar: The air is full of smoke now. It’s better to clear it as soon as possible. Perhaps the best way to do so and to facilitate investigation would be to give "time out" to those directly implicated in this issue.

Philip Chong: Selangor MB, please ask Liu to go for two weeks’ leave so that the state audit team can do their job.

Aisyah: You cannot suspend people anytime you like. Liu has to pick up some administrative law skills from the Selangor Select Committee on Competence, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat). I hope PKR and PAS have better in-house procedural techniques on staff discipline.

Concerned Citizen: It stinks all the way, and Liu is in the middle of it. You can't just suspend people and then say you will reappoint them. You should have declared early on that they have done no wrong while it is being established that there was more than one person signing such letters. Ronnie should take leave or be suspended.

Keturunan Malaysia: There is one other bald-headed ex-home minister locking up someone under ISA for her protection too. We are having far too many concerned and kind-hearted people around lately that we can do without.
