Police question another Klang councillor

Klang municipal councillor Lim Lip Suan was today questioned by the police, believed to be in connection with fellow councillor Tee Boon Hock who is embroiled in a scandal over abuse of state letterheads.

A commercial crimes department officer interrogated Lim at around noon, for about 45 minutes.

Lim (left) said the officers asked him about the possible link between Tee and a RM800,000 drainage upgrading project in Taman Petaling, Klang.

Lim however said that he was not asked about misuse of government letterheads or letters of support.

Lim said the investigation was based on a police report lodged by MCA Klang division chairperson Teh Kim Poh on possible abuse of power in the project.

"I believe MCA members misunderstood my statement in Nanyang Siang Pau two weeks ago," he said.

‘Detractors playing up issues'

"I was just giving a general statement by saying that ‘certain contractors might have misused their power by obtaining support letters from councillors'. I was not referring to anyone in particular," he said.

He also explained that the drainage project, handled by Paras Enterprise, had received numerous complaints from residents who said the contractor was not doing a proper job, citing as an example parts of a road that they left untarred.

"I am just trying to do my job here, and not politicking any issues," he said, claiming that certain quarters were taking advantage of the fact that he did not get along well with Tee, to create problems.

On July 31, Tee (left), who allegedly misused a Selangor exco member's letterhead to secure contracts for his cronies and family, was expelled from DAP.

The party has also written to the state government to have Tee removed as councillor.

Tee responded to the dismissal by staging a protest with two dozen supporters in front of Selangor exco Ronnie Liu's Pandamaran office yesterday.
