Najib gets seal of approval from Mubarak

The Council of Ex-elected Representatives (Mubarak) has recorded its undivided support to Prime Minister Najib Razak and the government leadership for all approaches taken in the past and future to achieve political and economic transformation aimed at attaining the developed nation status by 2020.

Mubarak also urged the government to take appropriate measures to ensure that the power-sharing formula among the various races practised by the present government was maintained with the rights and interest of the respective races being guaranteed and protected as enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
In addition, Mubarak called upon every Malaysian to give solid support to the efforts by the government in achieving these objectives and to cooperate sincerely to ensure the success of these efforts for the sake of the country's future survival.
Mubarak also strongly criticised efforts by certain groups to revamp the constitution or to amend any provision in the constitution which had been jointly agreed upon by the country's past leaders.
All these matters were stated in the motion tabled by a member of the Mubarak Supreme Council, Abdul Rahman Sulaiman, at the 7th Mubarak general assembly, in Kuala Lumpur today. The motion was later passed.
In his speech when tabling the motion, Abdul Rahman, who is also Bernama chairman, said the introduction of the 1Malaysia philosophy by the prime minister, 'People First, Performance Now', clearly emphasised the commitment of the present government in further strengthening the cause propagated by the past leaders.
Accept racial diversity
In fact, he said, the prime minister himself had frequently reminded that the spirit of racial tolerance practised by Malaysians all this while should be further enhanced to the extent that the racial diversity was accepted.
"In other words, the existing racial diversity in the country should be turned into an asset for the benefit of everyone," he said.
The former member of parliament for Parit Buntar said that in drawing up any policy or programme, the interest of the people regardless of race should always be the main consideration besides ensuring that every government project or programme achieved the desired objectives and gave optimum benefits to the nation.
According to Abdul Rahman, certain approaches were also introduced to avoid wastage and leakage, including the formation of 'Equiti Nasional' or Equinas, the introduction of the 'rolling plan' concept and "outcome" instead of "output" in development planning.
Abdul Rahman said that in view of the fact that there was only 10 years left to achieve the 'Vision 2020', the government felt that it had no choice but to take a short cut.
As such, he said, the government had to undergo a drastic transformation process in all activities whether in terms of governance, economic and development planning, philosophy and administrative or management matters, as well as political organisations and others.
