He was called up by the Putrajaya police following a police report filed by the Home Ministry against the PKR organ last Monday for publishing details of a 'secret' document.
Dzulkarnain said he was contacted by ASP Rejaliak Angong at 5pm yesterday, requesting him to come and record his statement under Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
However, when contacted today, he said he cancelled the appointment this morning as he had to attend an urgent meeting of Pakatan's top editors in Ampang this afternoon, and would therefore seek a new date from the police.
"I will take my lawyer with me and will give the police my full cooperation.
"This is a form of pressure from the Home Ministry and we are ready to face it for the sake of getting the printing permit for our newspaper," Suara Keadilan website quoted him as saying.
Earlier this week, a police report was lodged against Suara Keadilan for breaching the Official Secrets Act (OSA) by publishing a document classified as ‘secret' on its front page (photo).
Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan said yesterday police were investigating Suara Keadilan under the Printing Presses and Publication Act 1984 and the Sedition Act 1948.
Meanwhile, Harakahdaily editor Zulkifli Sulong told Malaysiakini that the meeting resolved, among others, to form a coalition to promote press freedom.
Another meeting between the three publications would be held next week to deliberate on the matter further.
The meeting was also attended by Dzulkarnain while the editor of DAP's The Rocket, Wan Hamidi Hamid, could not make it.
“I hope that the Pakatan Rakyat parliamentarians have brought up this issue of permits in Parliament, because there is too much power in the hands of the Home Minister who can suspend our publishing permit without giving any reasons,” Zulkifli said.
