S'gor PAS Youth: Probe fraud claim
Selangor PAS Youth wants the state government to investigate an allegation of fraud against state financial officer Mohd Arif Ab Rahman.
Selangor PAS Youth has urged the state government to investigate an allegation of fraud against state financial officer Mohd Arif Ab Rahman.
Hasbullah Mohd Ridzwan, who heads the wing, said it is vital to launch an immediate probe as the allegation could tarnish the credibility of the Pakatan Rakyat-led state government.
"We believe this issue can be raised before the Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency to ensure that the image and integrity of the state government and its staff are clean," he said at the state assembly building today.
The group handed over the memorandum to speaker Teng Chang Khim (right in photo) while the House was in recess, and later presented a copy to Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim through his political secretary Faekah Husin.
The claim against Mohd Arif surfaced in a blog last week, which alleged that the Subang Jaya city council had directly awarded a RM3 million project to an unlisted contractor to maintain drains.
Hasbullah said this was against Pakatan's election promise to ensure the use of the open tender system in awarding contracts.
The state government has since made this official policy in a circular issued by the state treasury.
He, however, did not say what action should be taken if the claim is proved, saying this was best left to the state government to decide.
"Let us wait and see first what kind of action the state will take," he added.
