Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin today filed a written submission on an appeal against his one-month jail term for committing polygamy without the court's consent.

It was filed through his lawyer Amli Embong at the Shah Alam Syariah High Court registrar.

"A copy of this submission has also been handed to the syarie prosecutor as the respondent," said Amli when contacted.

On July 1, the Syariah High Court had ordered Bung Moktar to file in the written submission today and for the prosecution to file in theirs on July 19.

Syariah High Court chief registrar Zainor Rashid Hassin fixed Aug 4 to hear the appeal.

On May 19, the Gombak Timur Syariah Lower Court sentenced Bung Mokhtar to a month's jail for committing polygamy without consent with actress Zizie Izette Abdul Samad, 31, at house No 12, Jalan TC2B/3 Cemerlang Heights, Taman Melati, Gombak at 8.50pm on Dec 16, last year.

He was charged under Section 124 of the Islamic Family Law Enactment (State of Selangor) 2003 which provides for a fine of not more than RM1,000 or a jail term of not more than six months or both.

He was also fined RM1,000 or one month's jail for abetting Zizie in marrying her without consent of the Registrar of Marriage, Divorce and Reconciliation at the same place, time and date.

On May 25, Bung Moktar filed an appeal against the jail sentence.
