Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim maintains that BN is being hypocritical in its character attacks on him and by accusing him of being a "Jewish lackey".

He said it was ridiculous that an article run by a deputy editor of the Washington Post had "suddenly become so important".

NONEAnwar (right), who has been accused of being a lackey of the Jew people by BN leaders after the article was published, repeated that he did not, and would not, apologise for his "Zionist" statement.

The Permatang Pauh MP and Pakatan Rakyat de facto chief was also critical of the mainstream media, which he said was skewed against him on the issue, giving him no space to defend himself.

"I stated my stand in that I disagree with the occupation of Iraq, that I disagree with Israel's actions against the Freedom Flotilla," he told a press conference today.

"I also criticised Apco because I want to expose the hypocrisy (of the BN)... I never said you cannot employ Jews."

Anwar admitted that he was approached by his peers in Washington, who told him they were not comfortable with his use of the term "Zionist".

He said they misunderstood his statement as referring to Jews in general, despite him referring specifically to Israel's aggression against Palestine.

"Some Jews feel the term is contentious... that's it," he said.

Anwar declined to comment on rumours of a snap general election, only saying that Pakatan would "deal with it".

NONEEarlier, at an Innovation and Entrepreneurship talk, he announced the appointment of Lotus 123 creator Mitchell Kapor (right) as an honorary adviser to the Selangor government.

Anwar, who is also the state's economic adviser, said Kapor would help develop innovation and entrepreneurship in Selangor.

Kapor said he was keen to use his extensive network to bring more expertise to Selangor.

"There are a number of people in Silicon Valley who are promoting entrepreneurship globally... we need to get them here," he said.
