An SMS message allegedly from Malim Nawar assemblyperson Keshvinder Singh, who quit the DAP recently, has raised disturbing questions for his former party leader A Sivanesan.

The SMS in Malay, which has been in circulation the past few days, states: "A dialogue session among members, voters and supporters of YB Malim Nawar assemblyman Keshvinder Singh on July 3 (Saturday) at 12 noon at Kampar Rest House. All are invited to attend."

Sivanesan, who is Perak DAP vice-chairperson, received this SMS message and forwarded it to news portals Free Malaysia Today and Malaysiakini yesterday evening.

The DAP Sungkai assemblyperson does not know the source of the SMS but wonders why the dialogue session is to be held at the Kampar Rest House, which is in the area served by DAP Keranji assemblyperson Chan Fook Chye.

"If the message is true, why does he want to hold it in another state constituency and not in his own Malim Nawar constituency?" asked Sivanesan, who is DAP national labour bureau chief.

"If he is sincere in explaining his jumping ship, then he should be in Malim Nawar to explain to his angry voters, instead of going to an adjacent constituency to explain why he resigned from the DAP and became an independent.

"And what does ‘members' in the SMS mean - are they Pakatan, DAP or BN members? Also, who are his ‘supporters' now? The DAP supporters in Malim Nawar are still with the party," Sivanesan said.

The vocal DAP leader threw yet another challenge to Keshvinder: to meet with his voters at Dewan Tokong Guan Yin in Mambang Diawan, which is near Kampar and falls under the Malim Nawar constituency.

Mambang Diawan is a Chinese new village and home to the largest number of Chinese voters in Malim Nawar. The hall can accommodate about 1,000 people.

Keshvinder, accompanied by Sivanesan, has held several meet-the-people sessions at the temple hall.

'Return the personal loan'

"I shall book this hall at my own cost. Keshvinder can choose the date and time for the dialogue session between him, state DAP leaders and his voters," said Sivanesan.

Sivanesan had on two occasions two weeks ago challenged Keshvinder to come to Malim Nawar to answer his swing to BN to the 7,000 people who voted for him, but the Malim Nawar assemblyperson never responded.

The DAP leader also wants Keshvinder to return the RM3,500 personal loan given to him by PAS Titi Serong assemblyperson Khalil Idham Lim. The money was for Keshvinder to pay the arrears on the loan for his car, which was in the process of being repossessed by the finance company.

On June 25, businessman Veer Singh lodged a report against Keshvinder at the Malim Nawar police station, under Section 415 of the Penal Code. Veer, a voter in the constituency, said Keshvinder, by jumping ship to become a BN supporter, had cheated the voters of Malim Nawar who voted him in on a DAP ticket.
