Independent Bayan Baru MP Zahrain Mohd Hashim continued to attack Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim in Parliament today accusing him of lying.

During the 10th Malaysia Plan debate, Zahrain brought up the incident around Bukit Lanjan state assemblyperson Elizabeth Wong which erupted in February last year, where allegedly intimate photographs of her were circulated.

NONE"I still remember how he lied to us about Wong. At the peak of the scandal, he (Anwar [right]) asked us to come and he gave a talk to tell us that Wong must quit her position as a state exco," Zahrain claimed.

"He promised us the (incriminating) video of her [...] we are still waiting for the video but until today we did not get the tape," he added.

Instead, Kulim Bandar Baru MP Zulkifli Noordin, who criticised Wong, had been fired from the party, Zahrain complained.

Zulkifli was fired from PKR in March for lodging a police report against Shah Alam PAS MP Khalid Samad over the ‘Allah’ controversy and for speaking against the party.

Wong, PKR’s Bukit Lanjan assemblyperson, at the height of the 2009 controversy surrounding the photos, had offered to step down but was in a unanimous decision by the state exco, was asked to stay on.

Wee joins the fray

Another independent, Wangsa Maju MP Wee Chee Keong, jumped on the bandwagon with Zahrain claiming that the alleged cover-up of the controversy meant that Anwar and PKR condoned such ‘acts’.

In response to the accusations, Balik Pulau MP Yusmadi Yusof defended Anwar and requested Deputy Speaker Ronald Kiandee to stop the independent MPs from making such ‘malicious lies’.

Zahrain's speech was then halted to make way for lunch.
