Front Page

English newspapers

New Straits Times and Star headlined a minor cabinet reshuffle as announced by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak. The shuffle saw MCA former president Ong Tee Keat replaced by vice president Kong Cho Ha. Six new deputies were also appointed.

Malay newspapers

Utusan Malaysia led with the various condemnation of world leaders against the Israeli attack on the Mavi Marmara that transported humanitarian aids to Gaza.

Berita Harian front paged Foreign Minister Anifah Aman confirming  the 12 Malaysians who were on the humanitarian aid ship were safe and are detained by the Israeli soldiers in Haifa.

Sinar Harian headlined Ismail Yaakob performing prayer for the safety of his son, Astro Awani reporter Ashwad Ismail, who is part of the humanitarian aid group on the Mavi Marmara.

Tamil newspapers

All three Tamil newspapers. Tamil Nesan, Malaysia Nanban and Makkal Osai reported on the minor cabinet reshuffle.

News coverage

The Israeli commando attack upon the humanitarian ship which includes 12 Malaysians on one ship are top news.

New Straits Times did not give a front page on the developments behind the attack but devoted four pages. On page four, it reported that all 12 Malaysians are safe as well as Israeli deportation of the activists.

Berita Harian reported the protest demonstrations by Malaysians in front of the American Embassy in Kuala Lumpur on page eight and nine. Reactions from family members of volunteers on board the flotilla were reported on page 10. A columnist also questioned how long should Israel be allowed to continue its aggression on page 18.

Utusan Malaysia reported reaction from various quarters on page four and five. An article questioning whether the United Nations can take action appears on page 11. One full page of photos of the demonstrations coloured page 16.
