Veteran MIC leader Bharat Maniam was kicked out from the MIC a week after he sent an SMS demanding a senator's post, but remains unfazed by the whole affair.

In the SMS that he sent to party president S Samy Vellu last week, he claimed to have assisted Samy and his family over a variety of issues.

NONEThe SMS sent by Maniam (left) among others reads:

"...solved many problems faced by you in particular...1988 MG Pandithan problem, 1989 presidential election as well as a rash of share scandals including Telekom, Maika and Renong..."

Maniam said that he received the letter yesterday at 4.30pm. Under the party's constitution, he has 14 days to appeal against the decision.

"I have created history by being expelled from the party for the third time with your assistance and I feel as if I've struck the jackpot, " said the Petaling Jaya Selatan MIC division leader when asked for his reaction to the expulsion.

On whether he will appeal or not his instant retort was: "I don't like to beg."

He was previously thrown out by Samy in 1984 and 1994.

Currently there is a vacancy in the Parliament's upper house as the MIC's P Loga Chitra's term ended last month.
