The Cameron Highlands branch of Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM), has taken 15 problems unresolved for nearly 30 years and involving the Cameron Highlands district and land office, to the Pahang Menteri Besar's office for solutions.

14 vegetable, flower growers and farmers have problems with land titles, temporary occupation licences, and business licences.

Another 35 residents of a small farm in the Blue Valley have their access road blocked by another farmer. The affected persons include three single-mothers, a handicapped person, a stall owner and a goat cum cattle rearing farmer.

NONEParty branch secretary Suresh Kumar (left) told Malaysiakini today that they first tried a public demonstration, then lodged a police report against the Cameron Highlands district and land office and even invited Suhakam to resolve their outstanding problems but to no avail.

Suresh said that Suhakam commissioner N Sivasubramaniam recently paid a visit to Cameron Highlands and promised to find a solution but without result so far.

Even the two BN political party representatives in Cameron Highlands did not come forward to help the plight of these low-income and uneducated people, added Suresh.

PSM decided to take up the matter to Pahang Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakop by presenting a memorandum to his political secretary, Shamsuddin Nawawi, on April 20.

Shamsuddin has promised to meet the affected people in Tanah Rata Public Works Department at 10.30am on April 29 to resolve their land and licence problems.

PSM will be giving a grace period of one month to the Pahang state government to resolve these problems, failing which they will then go directly to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's office.

Three Pahang Pakatan assemblypersons Choong Siew Onn (Tras), Syed Hamid Syed Mohamed (Kuala Semantan) and Leong Ngah Ngah (Triany) have promised PSM to take up the matter in the next assembly sitting in October.

PSM has also plan to demonstrate in front of the Pahang state assembly in October if the issues are not resolved.
