Three Selangor state assemblymen expressed anger and disappointment over rumours that Kota Damansara state assemblyman Dr Mohd Nasir Hashim, Dr Cheah Wing Yin (DAP-Damansara Utama) and Shamsuddin Lias (Umno-Sungai Burong) had passed away.

Shamsuddin when contacted by Bernama said he was angry and disappointed with such rumours spread by irresponsible people.

"By God's will, I am healthy and still alive. I have received many calls and SMS to find out if news that I had passed away due to illness. I am fine and in Hulu Selangor for the by-election," he said

Newsroom and hand phones of journalists was abuzz with the public calling to confirm the news as well as request for the Hulu Selangor by-election results.

Cheah who was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Sunway Medical Centre after being involved in an accident on March 13, was also a victim of the rumours as his special assistant Richard Yap when contacted, denied the rumours.

Condition improving

According to Yap, Cheah's condition was improving and in stable condition and that he would be transferred to the general ward tomorrow.

"After Wednesday we expect visitors to be allowed to visit him," he said.

Cheah suffered serious injuries to both his legs after being knocked down by a four-wheel drive along the Federal Highway in Shah Alam.

Meanwhile, though Mohd Nasir was not able to be contacted, secretary-general of Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) S Arutchelvan informed through twitter that he was safe and fine.

"Dr Nasir, chairman of PSM is safe and fine. He was not involved in any accident as rumoured," he wrote in the PSM official website.
