Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak arrived in Washington yesterday to kick off a week-long working visit during which he will have a bilateral meeting with US President Barack Obama.
   
Najib is among over 46 global leaders invited by Obama to attend the two-day Nuclear Security Summit starting Monday, called by the latter to curb nuclear terrorism.
   
The Malaysian prime minister and Obama are expected to meet Monday at the Walter E Washington Convention Center before the summit begins at the same venue.
   
Najib and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, touched down at the Andrews Air Force Base and were received by Malaysian ambassador to the United States, Jamaludin Jarjis.
   
Malaysian Information Communication and Culture Minister Rais Yatim, who is also acting Foreign Minister, welcomed Najib at the Four Seasons Hotel where the prime minister is staying.

On Monday, Najib will be hosted to lunch by US Vice President Joe Biden.
   
He is also slated to meet US Deputy Secretary of State James Steinburg and chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Howard Berman.
   
Najib will also engage in back-to-back engagements with top American business executives, fund managers and venture capitalists to offer a first-hand take of Malaysia's newly launched New Economic Model, both in Washington and New York.
   
He will also launch the "Faces of 1Malaysia" gala dinner in Washington next Tuesday to showcase the colours and harmony of Malaysia's multi-ethnic community.
