The decision on when to charge former PAS member of parliament for Bachok Buniyamin Yaakob who is alleged to have defamed Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in a political speech in March this year will be made tomorrow.

Kelantan deputy public prosecutor Azmi Ariffin told malaysiakini today that so far, he has not received any official directive from the Attorney-General chambers on the date to file for prosecution but "a decision will be made tomorrow". Sunday is a working day in Kelantan.

Buniyamin, 56, who is also Kelantan PAS information chief, is to be charged for defaming the prime minister after he accused Mahathir for watching ponographic video with his grandchildren at home. He made the allegation at a PAS ceramah in Pusat Tarbiyah Islamiah Kelantan (Putik), Pengkalan Chepa on March 15 this year.

Dialysis treatment

Buniyamin is now warded at the Kota Baru Hospital for dialysis treatment following a kidney ailment. A hospital spokeperson told malaysiakini when contacted today that Buniyamin, who was admitted on Wednesday night, was in stable condition.

The Attorney-General chambers said on Thursday that the PAS leader would be charged after it was satisfied with the proof in the investigations that Buniyamin was involved in alleged remarks which were defamatory in nature against Mahathir.
