Wanita MCA secretary-general Heng Seai Kie today expressed confidence that the new Wanita MCA chief, Yu Chok Tow, can unite the wing and make it more progressive.

"We have high expectations of Yu's leadership in guiding the women to continue to progress under the new MCA leadership in the interests of the Barisan Nasional (BN)," said Heng, who is also deputy information communication and culture minister.

She also said that Wanita MCA accepted the decision of Chew Mei Fun to step down as Wanita MCA chief although the wing was reluctant to let her go.

"Chew's decision was not made in haste but after she had given the matter much consideration," she said after launching the 2010 Smart Kids Education Fair in Kuala Lumpur.

Heng was asked to comment on Chew's resignation yesterday as Wanita MCA chief as well as deputy women, family and community development minister.

The 2010 Smart Kids Education Fair takes place at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) from today to April 11, with an entry fee of RM4 for those aged 16 and above.
